As an IRS 501 (c)(3) free standing community-based and community-guided not-for-profit organization in the heart of Inwood, ICS has survived financially over the past 36+ years through essentially three sources of revenue:

  • Government contracts attained through rigorous RFP (Request for Proposal) processes
  • Medicaid, Medicare and insurance fees for ICS's professionally-licensed clinical services
  • The generosity of community residents and other ICS supporters

This last category of support enables ICS to enhance certain of its programs and activities and also offset the costs of what have become ICS traditions: the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Fund and the annual ICS Christmas Holiday Toy Drive.

Charles Corliss

staff-charles-corlissCharles Corliss, Ph.D., ABPP, is Executive Director of ICS. Dr. Corliss is a licensed and board certified clinical psychologist who has been ICS’s Executive Director since its inception.

He has received numerous honors and awards including the NYC Community Services Society’s Ellen Lurie Community Service Award and the 34th Precinct Community Council Recognition Award. Dr. Corliss has held leadership positions in all major coalitions of not-for-profit organizations in upper Manhattan over the decades including: Chairperson of Target Behavioral Care, IPA; Chairperson of the Washington Heights Inwood Drug Prevention Partnership; Co-Chair of the Northern Manhattan Mental Health Council; Secretary of the Manhattan Mental Health Council; and Board Member of the NYC Agenda for Children Tomorrow Coalition; the NYS Neighborhood Based Alliance Collaborative; and the Kellogg Foundation’s Community Voices Initiative. A regular attendee at annual convention s of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Corliss has presented extensively on issues related to psychotherapy and disadvantaged populations.
