COMPASS After School Program

Funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, the COMPASS After School program at PS 189 is committed to providing a safe, educational  – and an unforgettable experience for its elementary school participants.

This program is part of ICS’s Youth Department whose mission is to facilitate youth development through empowerment, prevention, and intervention.

Our caring staff remains sensitive and flexible to meet the needs of the children and the families of our school and the community. We focus on homework assistance and education support. Children stay active through our vigorous sports activities and very successful dance program. Our technology efforts allow our program to publish and print a school newspaper and create video projects.  Participants also learn the basics of computer coding and 3D modeling– preparing our participants for the 21st century.
