PS 366

COMPASS After School Program

Funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, the COMPASS After School program at P.S. 366 WHA is a one stop shop for community and school participants.

As part of ICS’s Youth Department mission to facilitate youth development through empowerment, prevention, and intervention, this program provides a full array of educational, recreational, cultural arts, and STEM activities, plus a hot meal for all participants. The program is run by Site Director Felix Matos. Activities include: Homework help, Cultural Dance, Fitness, Creative Writing, Chess, Cooking, Science club and Visual Arts clubs. In addition, we partner with New York Cares with activities such as ‘Little Bits’ Robotics and Student Financial Wellness; and with Literacy Inc., to provide peer to peer reading mentorship. We also provide a summer camp that includes a range of outings to places including museums, parks, historical landmarks, and  recreational events. The program is a safe haven for children, and a great help to working parents and non English speaking families.
