SONYC After School Program

Funded by NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, this After-School Middle School program services adolescents ages 11 through 14 years of age: primarily youth who newly arrived to this country, and in need of remedial English.

As part of ICS’s Youth Department mission to facilitate youth development via empowerment, prevention and intervention, this program aims to enrich academic, social, and emotional skills in participants , and assist them in overcoming barriers to success.

This SONYC Program at IS 52 offers the following services and activities:

• Limited English Proficiency(LEP) Academic Support
• Homework Help
• Gardening Activities
• Mural Design and Production
• Silk Screening Classes
• A Basketball Team
• Game Room Time
• Life-Skills Training

This program is staffed by experienced youth workers licensed by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It operates Mondays through Fridays, from 2:30 to 5:30, starting in September, and ending in mid- June.
