As an IRS 501 (c)(3) free standing community-based and community-guided not-for-profit organization in the heart of Inwood, ICS has survived financially over the past 36+ years through essentially three sources of revenue:

  • Government contracts attained through rigorous RFP (Request for Proposal) processes
  • Medicaid, Medicare and insurance fees for ICS's professionally-licensed clinical services
  • The generosity of community residents and other ICS supporters

This last category of support enables ICS to enhance certain of its programs and activities and also offset the costs of what have become ICS traditions: the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Fund and the annual ICS Christmas Holiday Toy Drive.

ICS celebrates 41st Anniversary!

Message from Charles J.N. Corliss, PhD.,

Executive Director of Inwood Community Services.

Dear ICS Board, Staff, and Community:

It is August 1st, 2020, and ICS turns 41 today!

Thank you very much for your invaluable and unwavering support over the years, especially during these crazy times!     It is greatly appreciated.

What a difference a year makes!   Remember August 1st of last year?     We had a glorious 40th Anniversary Block Party with close to 1,000 happy kids on Academy Street….

This August 1st, we are still here – in the midst of a pandemic.

….and we are still serving over 2.000 community children, adolescents, and adults with a range of remote educational, support, prevention, and clinical services…

Thank you very much for your tenacity and commitment!

In fact, I look forward to next August 1st!  We will have our 42nd Anniversary Block Party, in which we will fittingly honor the one and only # 42: Jackie Robinson.   Until then, please keep showing up, working hard, and staying safe!

Take good care.

Sincerely,

Charlie
